Episode 687: Super-Threatening Fish of an Unclear Nature

On the Overthinking It Podcast, we tackle “Reminiscence” starring Hugh Jackman.

Peter Fenzel and Matthew Wrather wade into the murky waters of Reminiscence, the murky near-future post-apocalyptic neo-noir written and directed by Lisa Joy (Westworld) and starring Wolverine.

This movie bombed. $1.9M opening weekend. And it didn’t cost Avengers money but it wasn’t cheap. This in itself is fascinating, and it’s fascinating to look at what didn’t work about the movie and to consider what it might have been.

Spoilers for Orpheus and Eurydice.

Okay, I have made a definite note to not watch this film, ever, because I’m pretty sure you guys have just told me everything I need to know about it. …I thought that Persephone was the one associated with spring, though, not Eurydice?

But in other non-related news, I’ve been trawling through old Overthinking It episodes (I love you!) on the Apple podcast app and I’ve been having trouble listening to some of them (ex. episode 415: Hamilton Doesn’t Scale from June 13, 2016). I tried listening through your blog too, but couldn’t manage it there, either. Have I missed the boat forever, do I need to sign up as a patron, or is there some other way I can access the content my heart yearns for?

    Finally, congrats on your discord!

I think this corresponds to the time when we were on a podcast network and they were hosting our files. I had assumed their links would work forever, but I guess not. Let me see what I can do.
