    Have you tried Discord lately? I’ve found it much better than skype, zoom, adobe, etc.

    I wonder if TurboTax’s little robot was a metaphor for government-employed robots, given how much money they (and the other big-name tax companies) spend lobbying to squash bills to let the IRS open their books to each taxpayer with an option to just accept their assessment of the tax bill/refund. Granted, it’d be a “robot” on the level of a mail merge, but…

    The automation thing always interests me. As a kid, I can remember the pitch for automation was that we’d stop needing to do boring jobs to make ends meet and prices would be low enough to not need to worry about jobs. In just a few decades, we went from there to despairing over the loss of those menial jobs and an apparent disinterest in making the economy work without forcing people to do useless jobs.

    I guess I just keep needing to remind myself that our parents were the generation that was promised the futures with flying cars and household robots, whereas we were promised corporate-dominated cyberpunk nonsense…
