I vividly remember the first time I heard Green Day.
I had just met a distant relative’s step daughter, we were both right around 14 but she was definitely more “assertive”. She told me about a new album she liked, and then went into her room to change and play ‘All by myself’ twice at top volume… It was super awkward.

I wonder if my future obsession with punk rock started right there in that storm of hormones and terror.

“Storm of hormones and terror” is not a bad description of adolescence generally. Or teenage punks.
