Breaking Bad: Albuquerque City

Heading into the last half-season of Breaking Bad, we present a song about Heisenberg by way of The Boss. (BREAKING BAD SPOILERS)

With the last half-season of Breaking Bad coming up this weekend, Ryan, Mark and I figured we’d do something special and channel some Bruce Springsteen.

As comedian and friend of ours Josh Gondelman put it in his piece “Every Week’s Breaking Bad Recap:

The experience of watching this week’s episode of Breaking Bad is like listening to Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” with your eyes for a full hour. There’s a chicken man. And someone’s always getting ready for a fight. People are coming from out of state. Most importantly, though, everything dies. That’s a fact.”

WARNING: MASSIVE BREAKING BAD SPOILERS THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF SEASON FIVE.

“Albuquerque City”

Well we blew up the chicken man with Tio last night,
And we burned down his lab too.
We got nine of Mike’s guys shanked in prison fights,
And the last one is human barbecue.

Ehrmantraut is keelin’ over by the stream
And the DEA ain’t got no leads.
Barrels of acid-washed corpses and methylamine
My empire’s built, and I’ve decided to leave.

And well now,

Everyone dies, baby that’s a fact,
But maybe everyone who breaks bad
Someday breaks back.
Take my black hat off,
Fix them eggs to look pretty,
And meet me tonight in Albuquerque City.

Well, I cooked for Gus, and I tried to put my money away
But I’ve got dirt that no car wash can wash away
So I withdrew what I had from the heating duct,
But you gave it to Ted, and then we were all fucked.

And well now,

Everyone dies, Skyler, that’s a fact,
But maybe everyone who breaks bad
Someday breaks back.
You better call Saul,
Fix them eggs to look pretty,
And meet me tonight in Albuquerque City.

Well I, I might have lied, and
Let your girlfriend die, and
I might have poisoned your other girlfriend’s son.
I might have turned to shit
All you ever loved, but
Open the duffel bag Jessie, and
Put down the gun.

Maybe everyone dies, Jessie, that’s a fact,
But maybe everyone who breaks bad
Someday breaks back.

Well, they’re out looking for Heisenberg,
But I’m hard to find, ’cause my
Position and velocity can’t be known
For the same moment in time, but I’m
Tired of bowing down and taking charity,
So I decided to pay for chemo by
Doing a little chemistry.

Well I guess,
Everyone dies, baby that’s a fact
But maybe everyone who breaks bad
Someday breaks back.
Play some laser tag,
Make the bacon say fifty,
And meet me tonight in Albuquerque City,
Meet me tonight in Albuquerque City,
Meet me tonight in Albuquerque City.

Well this goes well with Albaquerque from Weird Al Yankovich (which can also be found mixed in with breaking bad)

I feel like I need to make a breaking bad cd
