TV Recap: 24: Live Another Day, 6 p.m.-7 p.m.

What do Jack Bauer, Freddie Mercury, and the President of the United States have in common? Find out in this week’s real-time 24 recap!

As night falls on 24‘s London, Ryan and Pete talk about the conflict between finding a purpose in saving lives and confronting the inevitability of death. Plus, how Jack Bauer is tearing himself apart, why you never invite assassins who are trying to kill you to come meet you in isolated motorcycle garages, and the boldest series predictions yet, which will still probably be outdated by next episode!

I haven’t had a chance to listen to the recap yet, but had to put my prediction here:

Chloe clearly hacked into the video feed at the last minute so that it only looked like President Heller was still on the pitch when the missile struck, yes? I mean, it’s the only play.

I had that thought as well. I forget if I mentioned that in the recap or only directly to Pete in our secure backchannel. I then dismissed the idea as being too batshit crazy even for 24, but if you had that thought as well, then there might be something to it…

Yeah, I just thought it would be weird to have all that build up of Chloe talking all about how the control stream is too encrypted, but MAYBE she can do something with those OTHER two screens. I also thought it was odd that the last scene focused almost entirely on Margot, without showing the President or Jack in the last few minutes. The “Drone’s Eye” view gave us most of the last few minutes, so it was ripe for manipulation.

I admit I haven’t watched enough 24 to have a good sense for what is more likely – a bait and switch involving hacked data feeds and a last-second “Mr. President, get out of there!!!” or actually killing the President in a drone strike on Wembley Field.

        This show is great.

I have to say I hope not. This series has never been shy of pulling out big guns and killing major characters. Also, it hasn’t ever pulled a “but really, if we repeat that climax, we see this really happened” ala Cliffhanger Copout before.

Me again, being all commenty. I suppose I am just way too excited about having then same first name as a 24 villain.

In a previews podcast you proposed a 24 fanfic consisting of CTU performance reviews. I am now contemplating a fanfic of Londoners filing insurance claims. I feel badly for whoever has to file the claim to repair the big hole in the middle of Wembly: “Your policy does not cover assiasinations of Heads of State via drone missile”.
