From the Archives: McElection (and a Reminder to Vote)

Four years later, we revisit McElection.

In the run-up to the 2008 US presidential election, we produced a series of hard-hitting political commentary videos, “McElection.” Our portrayal of the vicious politics of McDonaldland sent shockwaves through the political establishment and paved the way for sweeping changes in government, from McObamacare to the McDodd Frank Act and repeal of McDon’t Ask Don’t Tell.

On the eve of another historical presidential election, we’d like to share these videos with you again to remind of you of the historic McChange we brought about, and also remind those of you in the United States to go to the polls and vote in tomorrow’s election. The US election, not the McElection, that is. Because although McGovernment may taste great and come with a toy, it won’t rebuild our economy, end our wars, or, um, combat childhood obesity.

Enjoy the videos, and VOTE!

My Friends,

Obviously, the presidential election is our focus right now. But there are other races going on too. Races that deserve our attention. I am, of course, referring to the current battle for the heart and soul of McDonaldland.

On one side is Mayor McCheese. For 37 years, he’s been our head of state (and what a tasty-looking head). But are we really better off now?

Then there’s Grimace, a young reformer full of pretty words. However, not everyone has been won over by his radical proposals:

Recently, the mayoral campaign has turned negative. Grimace has called attention to the numerous scandals plaguing McCheese’s administration:

McCheese has fought back by pointing to Grimace’s mysterious early years, and some of his controversial associates:

This election will doubtlessly determine the course of McDonaldland for years to come, and so I urge you all to take time out of your busy schedules and vote!

Together, we can ensure a brighter McFuture.

McThank you.
