Wrather, you said you were paraphrasing The Big Lebowski with your “second location” joke. However, that joke is from an episode of 30 Rock, with the original joke being, “Never go with a hippie to a second location,” spoken by Alec Baldwin about Carrie Fisher.

I am fairly certain there is no similar line in The Big Lebowski, and as somebody who has seen the movie many times over, and once upon a time memorized the script, I feel confident in saying that, even if my retention of every line of dialogue from that movie is now, at best, 98%.

That’s a great “Well, Actually.” Indeed I was mistaken, and I bow to your superior memory.

I’m not even going to try to play it off like it was an April Fools joke. That’s the kind of integrity our broadcasts have.

These days, the only contributions I make to Overthinking It are corrections and tangentially related trivia for the podcasts. I have become a human Pop-Up Video.

Computer science is filled with words that I don’t know how to pronounce because I’ve never heard them spoken out loud before. I started off saying Linux like “lye-nux”. And I pronounce vi like “vie”. Also, I tend to cringe when people pronounce certain abbreviations as if they were words, like “gooey” or “sequel”.

I use vim, but it’s mapped to vi in my OS (Fedora 15). The reason I use it is that I never bothered to learn emacs. The first time I needed a CLI text editor, the instructions I was following suggested I use vi, and that’s what I’ve done ever since. Now, most of the time, I use a graphical editor, like gedit.

I know this is all supposed to be jokes, but I find this stuff quite interesting. I might actually check out Randall’s podcast, it sounds kinda cool.

I have a flash teacher that pronounces “Url” and Ur-ie-ell, I cringe to the point of almost pain every time.

You know, I could go on and on about the glories of the noble Atlatl and its storied Atlatlists, but never would I be able to portray this wondrous art as succinctly as does “Atlatl Bob:”

Pdx overthinkers appreciate the shout out.

PRO TIP! To contribute to the meta-ness of the Portland-Boston tv connection, it is worth noting that Portland Oregon was almost named Boston Oregon instead! If history were slightly different then shows set in Boston would be filmed in Boston. Just a different Boston.

Also, I can’t believe I actually listened to half an hour of code discussions.

Hello, fellow PDX overthinker. Yes, I knew that minor fact about the naming of Portland. But the overlap of the street names in my childhood hometown and the Bean City was just too good to not point out.
