Sheely and Wrather discuss agency and sex while considering the Masquerade Ball episode of Gossip Girl and the Gay Issues and Substitute Teacher episodes of Glee.

Ryan Sheely returns with Matthew Wrather to discuss the past two episodes of Glee and one of Gossip Girl, focusing on granting and taking away agency and the relationship/sex matrix, with detours into the straight-edge movement and the semiotics of Breadsticks. (Hint: It’s a weiner.)

Maybe if the writers had used Demi Lovato instead of Lindsey then it would have been more ‘culturally relevant’

I was surprised as well that the Sub was actually teaching because from my own experiences (like everyone’s I suppose) the Sub just made sure that everyone was there and hand out the worksheets.

You know, this raises an interesting question. I tend—and I know several fellow Overthinkers tend—to think of Lindsay Lohan’s rehab with exasperation and scorn, and Demi Lovato’s with great sympathy. It may be that it’s her first time or that she is relatively younger. But I suspect there’s something more to it than that.
