Surprised that there wasn’t more discussion of how this episode’s “Varys and someone in the throne room” scene compares to an earlier, similar scene, this dialog between Varys and Littlefinger. The two produce an interesting counter-point, since both focus quite a bit on Varys’s (lack of) junk. In the former, Varys notes that he “must be one of a few men in this city who don’t want to be King”, and Littlefinger counters that he “must be one of a few men in this city who isn’t a man”. Varys’s comeback is witty and dismissive, but it isn’t until this scene that he gets into why he thinks his lack of “desire” is a strength and not a weakness.

(Actually, now that I refresh my memory I recall that’s not the only dramatic throne-room exchange Varys and Littlefinger get, there’s also this one and this one (with a cutaway censored to keep a PG-13 rating for the YouTubes, but whatever, the dialog is all there), and maybe I’m missing others.)
