For those of you who haven’t seen Be Kind, Rewind yet (which, by the way, you totally should), “sweded” means something like “reshot by amateurs with a minimum of preparation, special effects, and respect for accuracy, but a maximum of raw energy.” Inevitably, people have started “sweding” movies on their own, and posting them on youtube. (There seems to be some sort of contest involved, but I can’t imagine that’s really the point.) This version of Jurassic park starts off a little shakey (the helicopter gag didn’t work for me), but it picks up a LOT once the “dinosaurs” show up. Video after the jump.
Also worth watching: this version of Predator.
The overthinkingit staff is pretty far-flung, geographically speaking, but I can pretty much guarantee that you’ll see a sweded production of our own coming to this space eventually. Probably not soon—probably long after sweding’s little cultural moment has passed—but eventually. It just looks like too much fun.
