Cascada didn’t actually write Everytime we touch. It seems like they took a song that has been around since at least the 90’s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRzgTozNA2Q) and remade it (with verses of their own unless there’s yet another version out there).

As a fan since the 00’s, I could also overanalyze that the generic sound is a generational issue. These guys put their mark on the musical world almost ten years ago, with songs like Everytime we Touch and Raver’s fantasy, and now newer artists are doing more creative things while they stick to that kind of sound even though it’s more and more outdated. Maybe that’s why they are in the competition at all, while current giants like Avicii aren’t.

Wow. Well, I never claimed to be GOOD at predicting Eurovision. I originally thought Finland was going to win this year easily, an opinion now shared by absolutely no one.

Personally, I think people were just AFRAID not to vote for the scary birds song.

If it’s any consolation, the BBC presenter seemed just as surprised as you. Also, even though they were announcing them in “random order”, Netherlands still wound up as the last one announced, with the overly long dramatic pause right before it.
