I for one believe that the censoring of episode 201 of South Park was absolutely wrong to do and that those execs over at Comedy Central are wimps for being afraid of a little death threat from some Muslims living in the very city that their people attacked while enjoying the same freedoms we all do.

The comic question came up before, and I reiterate I'd like to see "Sandman" and NOT "Bone" because I'm afraid the non-human characters will look like the ghosts in the Casper movies. But if it's traditionally animated, I suppose it could work. It has a good story, but one relying substantially on the "show don't tell" method (and not just because it's a comic), so I think could end up looking terrible if the production design and value aren't high enough. The furry things (I forget what they're called or if we even learn that), for example, could look like big gerbils instead of scary.

Oh, and as for the question...

There have been rumors of this for years, and with several different production companies supposedly attached to it, but I still wait with bated breath for an honest-to-goodness adaptation of Bone. And it had better be cel animated, dang it.

...it’ll be interesting to compare “Watchmen” and “Kick Ass” interms of how they differ in their affects on the larger popular imagination of superheroes and comic book movies.

Yes it will.

By which I mean "...please."

Also, I saw it last night. Some of the most fun I've had at the movies in a while. Also saw a trailer for the Scott Pilgrim movie. Looks like it teeters on that line between brilliant and idiotic, but Michael Cera makes me want to see it.

As I mentioned the last time this question came up, I'd love to see a "Man-eating Cow" movie, but somehow I don't think it's near the top of anyone's list.

I don't know if I would say that "Kick-Ass" has been "blazing its way through theaters"; although it came out at #1 at the box office (barely), it's gotten off to a slow start, and there's been a weird disconnect between the post-modern deconstructionist nature of the movie and the colorful, teen-oriented ad campaign.

That being said, I'm seeing it tonight and looking forward to it. If it's as good as the critics and word-of mouth say, then hopefully this will gain in popularity.

After this all plays out, it'll be interesting to compare "Watchmen" and "Kick Ass" interms of how they differ in their affects on the larger popular imagination of superheroes and comic book movies.

The funniest thing about the Muhammad situation is that when they first introduced the League of Super Best Friends, Muhammad was there, uncensored. Then that whole Bomb-as-a-turban thing happened, and Muhammad was a total no-go.

I'd like to see Preacher as the next off-beat comic movie. I personally have never read it, but I do have many friends who have.

And wouldn't it be great if Facebook had a Mr. T language option?

1) I thought the South Park episode censoring was intentional until I heard Jon Stewart's rebuttal to it on The Daily Show on Thursday. It really comes full circle with their Cartoon Wars point: either it's okay to make fun of everything or it's not okay to make fun of anything. I'm interested in seeing where they go next week as Parker and Stone have stated that they don't intend to get into a pissing contest with Comedy Central.

2) We already have Walking Dead and Y: The Last Man in production so nothing really jumps to mind from the U.S. industry but I don't read much outside of DC's Green Lantern anymore. For a non-US property, I'd absolutely love a BERSERK film despite Hollywood's ability to screw up Japanese properties (Dragon Ball Evolution and Fist of the North Star spring to mind).
