I think the beginnings of a consensus among the OTI staff, as far as I see it, is that we have tremendous respect for Lady Gaga as an artist and would have to really muster our full powers to take her on.

I almost want to wait until she comes out with a song that _really_ knocks my socks off — which I’m sure will happen sometime soon — because I have a lot to say about her and I don’t want to waste it.

Like, Lady Gaga is to Miley Cyrus as _Wall-E_ is to _Robots_. They converge on something similar in theme, form, subject matter and marketing, but they come from incredibly different directions and do not converge in a basic qualitative sense.

@stokes I think the reason the gloves are so creepy is because the rest of Demi’s outfit looks pretty normal by comparison. If Lady Gaga were wearing those gloves, you probably would not even notice because she’d also be wearing a polar bear on her head.

(Speaking of which, I would really love to see the Overthinking it writers take on Lady Gaga, if they haven’t already)

Okay, first, those are some seriously creepy leather gloves she has on. Something about the way they don’t quite fit really, really bothers me. These aren’t bondage-fetish impractical leather gloves, these are handmade by a serial killer out of human flesh impractical leather gloves.

Distressing fashion choices aside, this is an interesting analysis. This song will probably inspire a lot of poignant “Oh wow, this song moments in about twenty to thirty years, when its current ostensible audience (today’s crop of teens, tweens, and pre-tweens) have aged into the demographic of its current covert audience (nostalgia-stricken parents of a future crop of teens, tweens, and pre-tweens).

Good job of picking apart a good song. She has a long way to go, I think she’ll be around for a lot longer than Miley Cyrus. I agree with you on a lot of the things. Keep up the good work :)
