Overthinking It subjects the popular culture to a level of scrutiny it probably doesn't deserve.

I'm gonna guess. Was it Sophia? It was Sophia, wasn't it?

I was disappointed when one of the anchors talking about her seemed to have no idea who she was. The gal was speaking very slowly and seemed to be reading her prompter more carefully than usual. Granted, I wasn't alive when _All in the Family_ and _Maude_ were originally on the air, and my exposure to _Golden Girls_ was also via reruns, but come on. Even if you didn't know her name, you should know the face and personality. She popped up all over the place, and her presence will, indeed, be missed greatly.

Oh dear, I hadn't heard yet. This is sad news indeed. The Golden Girls was one of the more memorable sitcoms of my childhood, and it was great to see her appearing in things like Malcolm in the Middle and Curb Your Enthusiasm, showing that she had lost nothing. Nice to read this tribute.
