Overthinking It subjects the popular culture to a level of scrutiny it probably doesn't deserve.

"I didn't realise" "Isn't it beautiful" "I love you Thorn" "I love you Sol"

Beyond the movie was the poetic goodbye between Heston and Edward G. Robinson before Robinson's death. Together in one of the "Epic" films of an era yet ends here a movie not about people but of what people can become..... Yes, there is great guilty voyeuristic pleasure.

DU, you stole my thunder- I was going to mention that scene, too! And he's brought in specifically for the purpose of doing that kind of performance, too, the funny-not-hilarity thing in the middle of a comedy.*

Anyhoo, you either laugh or cry in a lot of situations, and Heston sets you up for that in his movies. I take the same rout as you, Stokes, but the gal that first told me about _Soylent Green_ took the other one and said I *shouldn't* watch it because it's so depressingblabblah- which, of course, led me to seeking it out. I was in middle school, though, so I probably got a lot less out of it than I would if I saw it again now. Hm...

*Whether you like his movies or not, Myers definitely is good at satirizing, both subtly and not-so-subtly, a lot of things about pip culture and the film industry in his movies. Like that whole "Oscar Clip" thing, or the montage of overt product placement, or the, "this looks nothing like Southern California" bit.

Watch the scene of Heston in Wayne's World. In all seriousness, that's some great acting.
