The 40 Year Old Virgin was a terrible film. It started out alright, but I didn't laugh ONCE after about the first 30 mins and it went on for two more hours (it was the extended\unrated version). Truly an awful movie and one of the least funny comedies if have ever actually watched all the way through.

See, I thought that Cliche-Spouting SWAT Guy was a genius ploy. It kept my attention off the driver - who, if you'll recall, turned out to be a person of some importance - throughout that entire chase. I recall being genuinely shocked and awed* at the reveal.

* I'm not being ironic. My first reaction was a gasping shock, and then a sort of tingly awe at what the Gotham PD - and, correspondingly, Chris Nolan - had pulled off.

Thank you for the shoutout to the Cloudmakes! The A.I. game was probably my first experience with film fan-geekery and it's saddened me to see the cheap imitations that have followed. No one will every beat the original Puppetmasters.

Chris Nolan must have felt bad that Nicky Katt (THE Nicky Katt) had no lines, and no name, so gave him a bunch of junk to say. It happens frequently to Dane Cook.

I'd like to have Woody Allen try and make a movie in Texas. I'm an Allen fan, but I think his whole insular Manhattan thing has become so cliche that even when he's abroad he can't help having his characters to be anything more than objectified New York intellectuals who are actually pretty stupid when it comes to matters of the heart as opposed to matters of the head.

Boston Public fans will recognize "The Cliche-Spouting SWAT Guy" as none other than Harry Senate (Nicky Katt), the teacher who fired a handgun in the classroom just to make a point.

I agree with Lee about the Best Comedy award- I felt *exactly* the same when I left the theater. I didn't see _Pineapple Express_ and heard that one is about as good, though, so I'm going off of what I saw.

If my memory serves me correct, McClain doesn't even say, "...mother f***er," after starting his famous line in the theatrical release of _Die Hard 4_. Saving the real line for a director's cut to keep it PG-13 is enough for me to feel _Die Hard 4_ deserves an award for worst sequel, even though I enjoyed it for the most part (I could rant about that for a loooong time).

BUT, if I'm wrong, I nominate _The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning_. It's much more painful to watch than any of the bigger sequels, even _Crystal Skull_.

Robert Downey Jr.'s blackface performance may be a questionable choice for Best Supporting Actor, but I think _Tropic Thunder_ would be a great choice for Best Comedy of 2008. I remember walking out of that picture thinking it had been a long time since I'd laughed that hard at a theater. Tom Cruise's performance by itself is decidedly For The Win.

And yes, I know. I'm putting aside some objections I had to borderline offensive portrayals of Asians in this film.
