I special, uber-fancy bookmark? Cuz I already have it bookmarked in my taskbar, and there's a fancy little icon that came up all on its own for me, here.

Thanks for your compliments! And thanks for reading the site.

I've just uploaded a batch of tweaks: some image margins, some IE6 issues (there are still a few bugs to squash there...sorry!), and...

A redesign of the homepage based on your suggestions here, viz.:

1) The newest (major) post will always be first in the image carousel.
2) The five latest posts are the first thing you see to the right of the carousel.
3) A much shorter distance from the top of the page to the list of latest posts.

Still to come: navigation links at the top of each post and a special bookmark for OTI enthusiasts to get to the new stuff.

Thank you for reading!

My biggest issue is that the newest content is buried at the bottom of the page. I don't have time for all this scrolling down through stuff I've already read. I like the idea of a new look, though.

Congrats on the redesign! Now for the picking of nits. I don't know if it's just my compy/settings (Firefox, medium-sized monitor), but I had to go deeeep below the fold to find new content. I'm not so much the target audience for the redesign, because I already come here every day and obsessively click on the "related posts" links, but I do think you can have a little more faith in us to go jumping through archives on our own initiative once we figure out how great this place is.

Between OTI Classic, Featured Content, What's Hot and From the Archives, that's four ways to get at old content that I saw before I found the new content down below.

I also agree about missing the next and previous post links.

But yay for new shiny versions! I like it.

Schnazzy :) I sort of wonder if it's too busy at the top with all the little boxes and no pictures. It's a good idea to catch first-time viewers with what's been most popular, but, you know, pictures help us folks who don't do much with the words. I suppose I would suggest fewer items, i.e. one or two articles per category. The content graphic is awesome but it serves the same purpose as the "what's hot" list, (right?) so maybe that list is redundant? I don't know what the motivation was for having two separate old, popular stuff items. I like the look of the "most recent" box.

Overall it looks great, and all the various parts are more accessible/noticeable than on the old one!

I'm just irked because I got one of the "Gravatar" things and can't figure out how to get it to show up. Other than that, snazzy.
