Stokes definitely means Lt. Harris. Commandant Lassard was pretty much high all the time. His best friend was a goldfish.

Lt. Harris was always yelling, even during routine conversations, unless he was intensely whispering in order to draw your ear closer — so he could start yelling even louder.

But the reference was so inspired, I didn’t want to mess with it.

Also, Matt, it’s pretty clear Grumpy Bear is the mechanic because blue-furred working class Care Bears are bitter.

And this reminds me, I’ve had a Care Bears post in my craw for a while . . . a rant I used to trot out at parties that maybe needs to be put out on the Web.

Wikipedia says that Grumpy Bear is now the resident inventor/mechanic for the rest of the Care Bears. Maybe that’s why he’s so grumpy – he’s busy fixing other bears’ Tivos.

As a chronically depressed person I’ve always felt a strong kinship to Grumpy Bear and Eeyore. But as someone whose depression frequently manifests itself as extreme irritability and downright bitchiness I’ve also always connected with Lucy from Peanuts.
